Glendora is fully committed to enhancing the personal pride & dignity among its youth. With a youth population of 60%, the new Youth Self-Employment Program (YSEP) is designed ensure that these members of the community acquire the knowledge and skills to secure a meaningful life and future. Coupled with a GED completion program, small business development education, and life skills preparation, YSEP will engage youth, ages 16 -24 years of age, in skilled training in such master trade areas as plumbing, organic gardening, landscaping, carpentry, electrical and mechanical engineering. Participants will learn how to market their skills on a regional basis and manage their finances to avoid debt. They will also acquire valuable knowledge and hands-on training in time-management, oral and written communications, as well as alternative dispute resolution.
